The Kwara State Government has officially pegged the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fee for the 2024/2025 examination at N30,250 per student. This fee will be applicable to all students in their final year of senior secondary school in public schools across the state.

The total fee of N30,250 includes the following components:
- WAEC Charges: N27,000
- E-registration Charges: N1,250
- Administrative Charges: N2,000
These fees were disclosed by the Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, during her address to the principals of all senior secondary schools in the state. The occasion marked the commencement of the WAEC registration for the 2024/2025 academic year, which took place at Saint Anthony’s Secondary School in Ilorin.
Government Stance on Extortion
The Commissioner also took the opportunity to address concerns related to the registration process, specifically warning against any form of extortion. She stressed that the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development would not tolerate additional charges beyond those officially approved. Principals found guilty of demanding extra fees from students would face strict consequences, as the Ministry is committed to maintaining transparency and accountability in the examination process.
