The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a strong warning to students and parents against patronizing illegal registration centers for the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration. The examination body emphasized that only accredited centers should be used to avoid issues such as invalid registrations, data errors, and financial exploitation.
JAMB’s spokesperson reiterated that the board has put in place strict measures to ensure that all registrations comply with its guidelines. Candidates were urged to verify the legitimacy of any center before proceeding with their registration. The board also warned that registrations conducted outside approved centers would be deemed invalid, and affected students may be unable to sit for the examination.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that 1,021 candidates have successfully registered for the UTME in Jigawa State since the process began. Officials in the state have commended the smooth registration process and encouraged more students to take advantage of the opportunity before the deadline.
Despite the progress, JAMB has expressed concern over the activities of fraudulent cybercafés and unauthorized centers exploiting unsuspecting candidates. The board has vowed to crack down on such operators, urging security agencies to assist in identifying and shutting down illegal centers.
Parents and guardians have been advised to guide their wards on proper registration procedures to avoid falling victim to scammers. As the registration window remains open, JAMB reassured candidates that all accredited centers are equipped to handle the process efficiently and in compliance with the board’s standards.
