WAEC GCE 2026 Second Series Registration Begins: Fee, Deadline and How to Register
Registration for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, Second Series, has commenced, with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) calling on intending candidates to complete the registration process before the deadline.
The examination, commonly referred to as WAEC GCE, is available to private candidates who want to sit for the WASSCE outside the regular school-candidate examination. According to the registration notice, candidates can now begin the process for the 2026 Second Series examination.
The registration fee for the 2026 WAEC GCE Second Series is N27,000. Candidates who intend to participate in the examination are expected to obtain their registration PIN and complete the required registration procedures within the period provided by WAEC.
For candidates who are yet to register, the deadline is fast approaching. WAEC has set Friday, September 18, 2026, as the closing date for the generation of registration PINs. Intending candidates are also required to complete their biometric capturing and online registration by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026.
This means candidates who plan to sit for the 2026 Second Series WAEC GCE should not wait until after the deadline before starting the process. REGISTRATION FOR THE EXAMINATION:
Registration for WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2026-Second Series will be online. After the Registration PIN, candidates should log on to www.waeconline.org.ng for registration. Candidates should also note that the registration procedure has been designed to accommodate biometric features that will be used for validation at the examination centres.
WAEC GCE 2026 Second Series Registration Fee
The registration fee for the 2026 WAEC GCE Second Series is N27,000. Candidates should ensure that they follow WAEC’s approved registration process and obtain their registration PIN through the appropriate channel.
WAEC explains that registration for the private-candidate examination is done individually online. After completing registration, candidates can print their identification photo card, which contains important examination details, including their centre information and registered subjects.

The deadline for generating the registration PIN for the 2026 Second Series WAEC GCE is Friday, September 18, 2026.

Who Can Register for WAEC GCE?
The WAEC GCE is the WASSCE examination for private candidates. Unlike the school-candidate examination, which is entered through schools, private candidates register individually.
WAEC states that eligible private candidates can include people who have previously attempted the WASSCE, candidates who have previously attempted the GCE and obtained passes in at least three subjects, and holders of the former Teachers’ Grade II examination.
Candidates should check the applicable WAEC requirements before completing their registration and should make sure that the personal information supplied during registration is accurate.
What Candidates Need to Complete the Registration
Candidates registering for the 2026 Second Series examination need to complete the required online registration and biometric capturing within the registration period.

WAEC GCE 2026 Second Series Subjects
Candidates should carefully select the subjects they intend to write during registration. WAEC’s current entry regulations state that candidates registering for WASSCE in 2026 and 2027 are required to enter a minimum of eight subjects and a maximum of nine subjects.
For the 2026 and 2027 examinations, English Language and General Mathematics are the two core subjects currently available. Candidates are then required to select additional subjects to reach the required minimum of eight subjects.
Candidates should therefore review their subject choices carefully before submitting their registration.
Candidates are also informed that all WAEC Past Questions, both objective and theory, together with their solutions and answers, are now available online. Note that WAEC intends using CBT for the conduct of this exam. This will help candidates to get familiar with the CBT environment and cover WAEC Past questions as well.
REGISTRATION PERIOD:
WASSCE For Private Candidate, 2026 – Second Series Normal Registration has commenced. Closing date for Generation of PIN is Friday, September, 18th, 2026. Intending candidates are advised to complete their Biometrics capturing and Online registration by 11:59pm on Friday, September 18th, 2026.

Candidates are expected to pay a registration fee of Twenty Seven Thousand Naira (N27,000) only, at branches of any of the following banks or any accredited agent and obtain the Registration PIN and information VCD:

WALK-IN-CANDIDATES:
Candidates who wish to register for the examination after the close of entries may be accommodated as “Walk-in-Candidates” provided they register not less than twenty-four hours to the scheduled time of the paper(s) they intend to write. The “Walk-in-Candidate” fee is Forty-Five Thousand Naira (N45,000.00) only.
CANDIDATES WITH SPECIAL NEEDS:
Candidates with special needs will also register online like other candidates but they must clearly state their Impairments e.g Visual, Low vision, Spastic, Speech, Hard to hear, etc
WHERE TO REGISTER
Candidates can visit accredited banks, Cyber Cafes, WAEC offices and “WAEC REGISTRATION POINTS” nearest to them for PIN purchase and registration
COMPLETION OF REGISTRATION:
Candidates MUST conclude registration within two weeks of first access to the website during the registration period. They should ensure that their names, gender, passport photographs, dates of birth and subjects are correct. They are also to print the Admission Notice, as Evidence of successful registration, which will serve as identification during the examination. The Result Checker PIN will also be on the Admission Notice. The acceptable fingerprint Scanner is UareU digitalPersona fingerprint device.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
-Candidates must ensure they provide valid email and telephone number(s) during registration
The examination will be computer based test. The objective papers will be fully CBT, while the essay and test of practical examinations will be hybrid examination where the questions will be displayed on the screen and the candidates will write their answers on answer booklets.. We advise candidates to prepare for the exam using the Myschool WAEC CBT software or the Myschool WAEC CBT Mobile . This will help candidates get familiar with the CBT environment and cover WAEC Past questions as well.
There will be an online Mock examination for interested candidates who registered for the examination and want to familiaraise themselves with the testing environment.the date and modalities for the mock will be communicated to candidates via SMS, emails and all social media platforms

-Candidates should continue to check the website for the examination Timetable
-Entries must be uploaded with passport photographs captured with digital camera. The specification of the digital camera should be Microsoft HD 3000. The passport photographs must be of good quality BLACK & WHITE OR COLOUR (JPEG File only, 275 by 314 pixels with 72 dbi resolution) and with a CONTRASTING BACKGROUND. There must be no obstructive items. Please note that the submission of a defaced or poor quality photography by a candidate would automatically invalidate the entry of the candidate. -Candidates should study the Regulations and Syllabuses for the examination which they can download from WAEC website (www.waeconline.org.ng) using the Registration PIN
-Candidates must go to examination halls in mufti and without arms. No professional uniform of any kind will be allowed in the examination halls
-The entire result of candidates who sit for the examination in more than one centre will be cancelled
-Smoking is not allowed in the examination hall
-Any Candidate that comes into the examination hall with mobile phone(s) and /or any other electronic gadget(s) will have his or her entire results cancelled
–Candidates must ensure that their entries are correctly completed before uploading as the Council will not be held responsible for errors in candidate’s particulars. Request for amendments will NOT BE entertained on any information which a candidate voluntarily gives at the point of registration.
-Candidates must come into the examination hall with their original Admission Notice
-Candidates who engage in examination malpractice will not only have their results cancelled but may be prosecuted
