Allegations of Financial Impropriety Against JAMB Baseless – ASCSN, NASU

The allegations of financial impropriety leveled against the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have been dismissed by the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) as baseless and unfounded. Both unions have strongly condemned the accusations, affirming that JAMB has maintained transparency in its financial dealings.

The claims, which surfaced in recent media reports, suggested that JAMB officials were involved in financial misconduct and mismanagement of funds. However, ASCSN and NASU have rallied behind the examination body, stating that there is no evidence to support the allegations. They emphasized that JAMB has consistently adhered to financial regulations and has remained accountable for the resources allocated to it.

ASCSN, in particular, expressed confidence in the integrity of JAMB’s management, noting that the board’s operations are regularly audited by relevant authorities. NASU also underscored the importance of protecting the reputation of public institutions and cautioned against malicious attacks that could tarnish the credibility of well-established organizations like JAMB.

Both unions called for a more thorough and objective investigation into the allegations, should there be any merit to them, while urging the public not to jump to conclusions without proper verification. They also appealed to the public to recognize the critical role JAMB plays in Nigeria’s educational system, particularly in facilitating university admissions for millions of students.
